Judging from the conversation on facebook last night,
…many of you are still experiencing summer temperatures or holding on to those last few days of summer. BUT, for those of you that the weather has already turned cooler, or who are longing for the weather to turn cooler, or just already planning your fall décor and projects, I thought I would roundup all my fall decorating and projects in one post for you. Easy to reference and might help you get in the mood to switch gears to fall.
I went all out on decorating the front porch last year and LOVED it! I so enjoyed coming home to all the simple touches out there and am ready to get started adding some fall out there this year (amidst the summer flowers and ferns still thriving in the summer heat.)
Of course you can’t have a decorated porch without a wreath on the door and I have shared plenty of wreaths over the last 2 years. Some that are specifically fall themed and some that could be adapted for fall.
Like this brown coffee filter wreath. You can find the tutorial here that I posted when I made a white coffee filter wreath. And I showed you last week how I removed the brown ribbon and bow and added some fall picks to change up this wreath for fall
Another one of my favorite, basically free wreath ideas for fall is a magnolia wreath. If you have access to a magnolia tree or can stop by a park and pick up some leaves, you can do a lot with magnolia leaves for fall!
No access to magnolia leaves? Then just use some basic fall leaves! This fall leaf wreath is another free, easy idea that even kids could do.
The fall wreath I made for my front door last year was BIG and a little crazy… But I loved the fall colors and leaves. I took all the picks off the wreath last year and plan to rework them into a new wreath this year.
I made a couple wreaths during my 31 days of Pinterest series last October that are perfect for fall.
A rolled book page style burlap wreath.
And a cinnamon stick wreath.
This yarn wreath could be made in pretty much any colors and then embellished however you want.
Save those end of summer hydrangea clippings and make a hydrangea wreath!
And this jute wrapped monogram was an easy project that could be used to embellish a wreath or be décor pretty much anywhere.
Now for some mantel decorating ideas!
This was my mantel in fall 2011. I still love all the white with the bright pops of oranges and reds!
Closer to Thanksgiving, I made and added the burlap “Give Thanks” banner.
Then this was my fall mantel last year. More eclectic with some added natural elements. Not sure which direction I am going to go this year!
One of my favorite DIY fall décor pieces is this pumpkin topiary! I made it 4-5 years ago, way before I was blogging but I gave some simple tips to create your own in this post.
Last year I shared my fall table all decorated for fall/Thanksgiving. I ADORE these plates and pieces from the fall BHG line! I was so excited to unpack them again this year.
Another simple way to add some fall touches is to print some of the fun fall subway art or free printables you can find online. I have a ton of them pinned on my fall Pinterest board or on my free printables Pinterest board. Plus I linked to more in this post.
